You Are Valued.
To a young girl fighting,
I see you fighting, I see you putting in the hours of hard fucking work. This shit doesn’t come easy doesn’t it? You got this though, you do. Dig deep baby girl. You can’t give up, not now. We all have your back, every single step. Whether that be your mom, your dad, your sister, your brother, me, we got you. Hang on, keep climbing. You have made it through your hardest of days. I love that line, “You have already made it through your hardest days,” I think about that quote often in recovery. You are stronger than you think, and are capable of the hard shit.
Hold onto your beliefs, hold on to your values. I want you to go grab some paper and a pen and write down your top 5 values. For example some could be; family, friends, empathy, self-respect, loyalty, etc. I want you to hold onto that paper and read it when you need to. Keep it by you at all times. Put it in your sock or shoe. Even if you cannot access those values at the moment it's a good reminder to what you are aiming for. Values are a huge part of recovery. They are little pockets of reminders about what we care about and why we are here on this earth.
Be patient little girl, hang in there. These long days aren’t fun, I know. But the end result is going to be so fucking worth these brutal days. This is temporary. Nothing is forever. I know how hard this is and I know how much you want to give up. But look, this is a short blimp in time, you will recover. I know it, you have to believe. Please hold on. Do it for the little things in life; puppy kisses, hugs with people you haven't seen in forever, late night car rides, deep talks with your friends in random parking lots, last days of school, your mom holding you, etc. I could go on and on for reasons why you cannot give up. We need you here and we need the real you here, not the ed you. That little girl inside of you wants to come out so badly and it can and will happen.
“You’re here for a reason and you don't know why” a line from one of my favorite songs. This line is so relatable and so relatable for so many unfortunately. But every single one of you reading this has a why, has a purpose. You may not see it but trust me, it's there. It breaks my heart seeing so many people think they don't have a reason. You are beautiful inside and out, loyal, compassionate, smart, understanding, empathetic, and so much more. You are so loved by so many, hold onto that.
Keep fighting beautiful
Love,
